Domino Accordion Mini Album Tutorial by Giovanna Zara

Hello, I'm Giovanna Zara, aka GiogioCraft, and I'm so honoured to be asked to be guest designer this month! I'm creating mini album for years now, and for this project I had the chance to play really small, with a bit of upcycling and lot of stamping.

The 'domino' tiles I used are salvaged wood from fire, my father works with wood, so at home we have plenty of wood leftovers, and I don't miss to check for scrap wood suitable for craft projects.
The process showed in the video it can easily be applyed to real domino tiles, or heavy chipboards  as well, so, why don't you have a go?

At first I didn't know how to make a nice closer, didn't want to use the usual wrap up ribbon, and at the end I come up with a nice work out: I screwed two tiny cup hooks shouldered screw on the sides of the front tile, then I attached a small chain with  a lobster clasp at one end, so I even had the chance to hang some cute metallic charms and I just love it!

I have created a video tutorial for you and wish that you will subscribe to my YouTube channel for more.

Don't forget to submit your mini album to our January challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Lindy's Stamp Gang!

Winners Post for December 2017

Our December challenge ironically held 25 entries - ho ho ho!  We are truly pleased that despite the holiday preparations, so many of you played along.  Thanks to each one who participated, visited and commented.  If you have yet to review the December entries please visit the post for inspiration overload.  It's never an easy job to narrow down to a few winners, but without further ado...

The overall design team favorite badge goes to Maria of Magic Attic Designs!  Maria, we would love to invite you to be our guest designer for the month of February.  Please email Autumn at teamclark@rocketmail.com to discuss further.

For certain, there isn't a one of us who would not love to be in one of Maria's live workshops!  Her expert hand produces such skilled placement of so many beautiful elements.  With so many tricks up her sleeve, each page is filled with delightful interactive elements.  As if the cover alone wasn't beautiful enough!

Our top five entries are equally stunning.  Each of you, please take our top five badge and display it proudly on your blogs.  In no particular order...

WuWu of Zatoka Wspomnien, whose simple ring binding does offers proof that you can make beautiful works in any format!  These pages beg to be touched and inspected, with so much detail - what beauty!

Georgia Rossini who inspires us all to get out in the world and capture those precious memories!  Each page is filled with joy and made with love, recording a once in a lifetime adventure.  A must make!

Nora of Creations by Nora made a video while designing this one of a kind matchbook mini.  There are so many amazing details and Nora's process is always a joy to see.  What a tribute to texture play!

Susan of Klistersøster upcycled beautiful Christmas postage stamps into this mini work of art.  I had to scroll up and down and up and down to take in the many details packed into this small footprint.  The binding method is great too, a must see!

Ragozina Olga of Gifts with the Soul used gorgeous papers from our sponsor Graphic 45.  All you G45 lovers brace yourselves!  Her fabric cover and beautiful folds and flips will take your breath away.  The entire work is a lesson in balance of color and shape, a triumph!

Thank you all very much for playing along.  And now, the announcement of the winner of the Eileen Hull Sizzix Mini Album ScoreBoard XL Mini Album die.

And the winner is.....

Jennie of Live the Dream!  Jennie shared the most incredible elongated shabby album with us.  How beautiful and inspiring!

January Mini Album Tutorials and Challenge

Happy New Year to each of you!  What an amazing finish to 2017 with so much inspiration from our participants, guest designers and design team.  It was wonderful to see each and every project and get to know some new faces.  If you haven't visited the December entries, do hop over and check them out.  Today we begin a new challenge with a fabulous sponsor, Lindy's Stamp Gang!

One lucky participant will win a generous $25 gift certificate to the Lindy's online shop.  :)  This month our team wows us with more inspiring albums.  Hop around to each blog for the full reveal and tutorial for each project.

Anne

As another new year begins, my thoughts turned to Valentine's Day and I made a 4" square mini album from two sheets of paper and some fabulous Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

Astrid

My aim for the January challenge was to make something useful and also to use some of my endless collection of hoarded papers and other stash. So I created a desk top calendar album. Here are the cover and some of the inside pages. If you want to see the rest, please hop over to my blog.

Alison

As you probably know, words are a major part of my world, so I made myself a journal to collect thoughts, ideas, phrases and rhymes ready to play with.  I used the lovely leafy garland (by one of our sponsors, Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts) to create decorative masking detail on the inner pages, so do hop over to Words and Pictures to take a look inside.

Gloria

There is nothing quite like a blank journal to start the New Year! Blank pages are full of possibility! I created an 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" journal with lots of pages for writing notes and ideas. The canvas and beach theme makes me feel relaxed and serene. Visit Scraps of Life for all the details and a tutorial for creating this hidden spiral binding.

In the archive of my parents there are many old family photos. I decided to make an album for them.

Autumn

I've been longing to compile an album filled with my favorite stamped images by PaperArtsy.  I worked through creating this progressive style flip fold album, with lots of shabby crackly details.  Visit me at SewPaperPaint for more.

I hope these peeks have sparked your imagination and you will pay the design team blogs a visit.  We welcome you to play along with our challenge, which ends at 11:55 pm EST on January 31.  Join us on January 7 for our December winners announcement.

Our challenge follows a few simple rules:
Any Handmade Book Goes.  Enter any form of handmade mini albums, scrapbooks, journals and book arts.  Our focus is on completed works, so no layouts or journal spreads that are not part of a complete handmade book project.  You do not have to provide a tutorial, but we wish you would.  Feel free to use one of the DT tutorials to make your project and give proper credit where due.

No back linking allowed.
Please add our badge to your post and link to our challenge.

Combine with any other challenges as applicable.  No limit on entries.  Share the love by visiting and commenting on other entries.  Please become a follower.  That's it - have fun!
